Stanford University implements Moonwalk

Implementation of Moonwalk as ILM solution for Novell Netware

Salt Lake City, Utah

The University’s Controller’s Office is using Moonwalk to realize significant gains through the reduction of expensive primary storage, reduced backup windows and organization of user files for compliance.

According to Horace Greeley from the Information Systems Group:
“Along with many other places, Stanford must respond to increasingly complex and demanding data lifecycle mandates. Having surveyed the field and found nothing that met our needs, we were delighted to discover the tremendous versatility and power of Moonwalk’s innovative approach. We were particularly pleased that Moonwalk does not require an intermediate server or staging device. Removal of that point of failure from the data chain, coupled with uniquely identifying meta-data in archived files has allowed us to immediately integrate Moonwalk as an integral part of our disaster recovery planning.

Based on our initial deployment, we anticipate being able to reallocate a significant amount of valuable employee time more effectively and efficiently, and away from mundane data management work. From the fast, small-footprint client to the excellently designed, highly intuitive and easily understood user interface, this is a superior product in every respect.“

The Controller’s Office has also enrolled in Moonwalk’s Early Release Program. The program allows members early access to the latest features of the Moonwalk technology.

Moonwalk Universal develops software for Information Lifecycle Management in the Netware environment. Moonwalk can be applied to a variety of operations including Hierarchical Storage Management (HSM),Archiving, Disaster Recovery and structured File Management.
