Twinings implemented a data storage strategy using a Moonwalk and EMC Centera solution, to manage its 'exploding' data storage issues.

Organisation overview.  Since 1706, Twinings has been at the forefront of the tea trade - blending and innovating; improving design and packaging; and introducing new products and new ways of doing business.

Key requirements.  Like most other organisations in the world, Twinings was experiencing an explosion in the area of file storage data.  As part of a data storage strategy, Twinings planned to upgrade the legacy storage infrastructure with a tiered solution.  

Solution.  Twinings strategy involved using Moonwalk & EMC Centera to fulfil the archiving tier.  Moonwalk allowed Twinings to cap the capacity on the expensive disks and move historical files offline.  IT customers did not even notice a change.  However, the combination of Moonwalk and EMC Centera resulted in a 65% reduction in primary storage.  

A technical issue was realised with the Cluster name using characters that Moonwalk didn't understand. The Moonwalk developers resolved this issue in less than 24 hours.
